Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was admitted to AIIMS Delhi following a complaint of back pain, is stable and currently under observation, the hospital announced on Friday. Singh's condition was assessed after his admission to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday.

"Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's condition is stable and he remains under observation," AIIMS Delhi said in an official statement. Singh, a Member of Parliament from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is serving his second consecutive term as the Defence Minister.

Rajnath Singh, who turned 73 on Wednesday, has had an extensive political career. He served as Union Home Minister during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first term in 2014. His career also includes being a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Minister of Education, Minister of Surface Transport, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Minister of Agriculture, and a member of the 15th Lok Sabha and Committee on Ethics.
