The Maharashtra Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced that the legislative council has passed a resolution to rename seven railway stations, changing their English names—given during the British era—along the route between Mumbai Central and Mumbai West.

Minister Bhuse revealed in an interview with ANI that these stations will be renamed after their original local names before the British colonization. This proposal has been approved by both the Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad, and the Central government will be appealed to for consideration.

The proposed new names include Currey Road to Lalbaug, Marine Lines to Mumbadevi, Charni Road to Girgaum, Cotton Green to Kalachowkie, Sandhurst Road to Dongri, Dockyard Road to Mazgaon, and King's Circle to Tirthankar Parshavnath.
