After 16 days of a hunger strike, peace may soon return to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), as the administration and students' union have achieved consensus on several key demands. Six of the 12 major demands have received approval, among them the reinstatement of the JNUEE for admissions, a campus caste census, and scholarship increments.

Despite these advancements, the hunger strike persists. Student union President Dhananjay and Councillor Nitish Kumar remain on strike, demanding a written confirmation of the agreed terms. Dhananjay has lost over 5 kg and suffers from severe health issues, while Kumar has lost 7 kg and faces extreme weakness.

Negotiations are ongoing for unresolved issues, including the reopening of Barak Hostel and the inclusion of the JNUSU in Academic Council meetings. The administration, citing funding constraints, has committed to striving for the students' best interests.
