Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has embarked on a series of state-wise discussions aimed at accelerating progress in the agriculture sector across the country. Today, he convened a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi with Bihar Agriculture Minister, Shri Mangal Pande, among others.
During the meeting, Shri Chouhan pledged to reassess the allocation of funds under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) and the National Food Security Mission specifically for Bihar. He urged for new proposals to enhance agricultural initiatives in the state, emphasizing the importance of smooth seed supply for the upcoming Kharif and Rabi seasons.
Discussions also revolved around various schemes and programmes of the Agriculture Ministry. Shri Chouhan assured that farmers in Bihar would receive unwavering support from the central government to address their challenges effectively. Stressing the need for collaboration between the Centre and the State, Shri Chouhan emphasized a concerted effort to elevate the agricultural sector nationwide.
Shri Pande, the Agriculture Minister of Bihar, underscored the significance of strengthening Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the state. He highlighted Bihar's potential in Maize and Makhana production, seeking central support to harness these capabilities fully.
Accompanying Shri Chouhan were Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, along with senior officials from the Central and State Agriculture and Horticulture departments. Previously, Shri Chouhan had engaged with agriculture ministers from Assam, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh as part of his comprehensive outreach efforts to bolster agricultural growth in respective states.
