Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad (Ayodhya), Awadhesh Prasad on Saturday inspected waterlogging in Ayodhya and potholes on Rampath and asserted that there should be a high-level investigation into the matter. Speaking with ANI, Prasad said, "Irregularities have been found in the construction of Rampath and there should be a high-level investigation."

He added, "People from all over the world come to Ayodhya. The name of Lord Ram is being defamed due to the irregularities in Rampath, this is a big matter. Looting is taking place in the name of Lord Ram. A committee should be formed, an investigation should be conducted and a report should be sought." Prasad further said that the report should be sought within one month. "The report will make everything clear," he said.

The SP leader also said that the issue of irregularities in Rampath construction will be raised in the Parliament and asserted that he will try to solve the problems of Ayodhya. Meanwhile, Congress' Uttar Pradesh President Ajay Rai took to his official X handle and criticised the BJP amid reports of potholes on Rampath.

He said, "Corruption exposed again in UP. In Ayodhya, the newly constructed Rampath with a budget of Rs 844 crore has caved in at many places. Rampath Corridor was constructed on January 22 this year, just before the inauguration of Ram Mandir. These potholes created in the first rain prove that there is some mess in the road construction work done by our Gujarati friends." Meanwhile, Gaurav Dayal, Commissioner of Ayodhya Division said, "A perception has been formed that the construction work of Rampath has not been of high quality due to which there are potholes all over the Rampath, or the Rampath is already waterlogged or because of the Rampath, waterlogging is taking place in the adjacent places. This is absolutely wrong. Quality has been completely taken care of in the construction of Rampath."

Talking about the action taken against the concerned officials, Dayal said, "Six officials have been suspended, which include three engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD) and three engineers from Jal Nigam." (ANI)
