Kang Sung-Wook (or sometimes written as Kang Sung Wook), as you all know, has been awarded 5 years of imprisonment by the Supreme Seoul Court after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a bar employee in August 2017. Reports say that the popular South Korean musical actor invited her to his college friend’s house.

Kang Sung-Wook committed the crime in Busan in August 2017 but it took two years for the victim to get justice. According to Allkpop, the 34-year-old actor is revealed to have made attempts in covering up his sexual assault.

Kang Sung-Wook’s college friend reportedly told the police, “We were having consensual skinship when the victim came back from the bathroom and suddenly said she would report us.” His friend has also been found guilty of sexual assault. Their KakaoTalk messages disclosed they had given an effort to cover up the crime.

"Tell them I was laying in bed," and "Delete the KaKaoTalk messages.” These texts were reportedly sent after Kang Sung Wook denied the sexual assault. “We were laying in bed, and we looked at each other. Park then made moaning noises to tempt me, so I kissed her,” he told the police. Whereas, the victim underwent three months of therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder after this severe incident.

New Straits Times (via Soompi) has tried to reveal what happened on that unfortunate day in 2017. Two bar waitresses were brought to Kang Sung Wook’s friend’s house and one of them left. The actor accompanied by his friend forcibly prevented the other woman from exiting and then assaulted her. But when she tried to file a criminal complaint against them, he was alleged to have claimed she was a ‘gold-digger’. “Who would believe a woman like you?” the actor reportedly told her.

“The victim’s testimony is consistent and she has never tried to get money out of the defendant,” the Seoul Court said during the trial.
