Carlo Ancelotti, the celebrated coach of Real Madrid, will face a trial in Spain this Wednesday on charges of tax evasion.
Spanish prosecutors have accused the Italian football icon of defrauding the state out of 1 million euros during the years 2014 and 2015, using shell companies to obscure his income.
The trial date was set by a Madrid-based court last Friday. If convicted, Ancelotti could face a prison sentence of up to four years and nine months for two counts of tax fraud. Ancelotti, 65, denies any wrongdoing. He has an illustrious career record, being the only coach to have secured five Champions League titles and won league titles in multiple countries.
