Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary has come under scrutiny following remarks comparing the frequency of the Holi festival and Friday prayers, which some interpreted as controversial. Addressing these concerns on Wednesday, Chaudhary called for communal harmony and defended his comments as impartial.
Speaking before a peace committee at Sambhal Kotwali police station, Chaudhary explained that his intent was to foster peaceful coexistence, ensuring mutual respect for both Hindu and Muslim communities. Although his statement raised eyebrows, he questioned why critics hadn't pursued legal action if they felt seriously aggrieved.
During the meeting, Chaudhary also responded to accusations of biased police action post-violence incidents in the area. He assured that investigations were impartial, based on evidence, and urged against political manipulation of the issue. 'Our aim is to preserve peace without engaging in any politics,' Chaudhary stated firmly.
