The 'Ad Art Exhibition: Four Decades of Indian Advertising' is set to launch in Delhi, offering an intriguing glimpse into the evolution of advertising from 1950 to 1990. Hosted by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, the event begins on Tuesday.
This unique exhibition will display a collection of rare print advertisements from a private archive, featuring everything from food to footwear. The ads serve as a testament to a bygone era, illustrating how Indian society, culture, and consumerism evolved over these pivotal decades.
Running from March 25-28, the exhibition will also include a panel discussion with prominent advertising and media figures. This follows a similar IGNCA exhibition in March 2024, focused on women's roles in cinema through both historical and modern lenses.
