Prashant Koratkar, a journalist from Nagpur, has been arrested by Maharashtra police. He faces charges for allegedly making derogatory comments about the historic figures Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji.
The arrest followed an audio conversation that surfaced, implicating Koratkar in making inflammatory statements. Despite his claims of a compromised phone and doctored audio, his request for anticipatory bail was denied by the Bombay High Court.
Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, assured that the police will take appropriate action, rejecting allegations of biased protection towards the journalist. The incident has stirred community sensitivities across the state.
