Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day state visit to Mauritius, where he was greeted warmly upon his arrival in Port Louis. Among those present was former Miss Mauritius Kushboo Ramnawaj, who expressed her excitement at meeting the Prime Minister.

Kushboo, who gained recognition as Miss Mauritius in 2014 and represented the island at the Miss Universe pageant in 2015, shared her sentiments about finally seeing PM Modi in person, noting her Indian heritage's role in her journey. 'I am overjoyed to witness PM Modi up close after only having seen him on television,' she conveyed to ANI.

During his visit, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in Mauritius, reminiscing about his visit to the nation exactly a decade ago, which fell around Holi. With Holi approaching soon, he expressed his intent to bring the joy and colors of the festival back to India.

Earlier, PM Modi attended a luncheon hosted by the President of Mauritius and paid tribute to former leaders Seewoosagur Ramgoolam and Anerood Jugnauth at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. He presented the Mauritian President and First Lady with OCI cards and gifts, including holy water, Makhana, and a Banarasi saree.

PM Modi's visit, from March 11 to 12, coincides with Mauritius National Day celebrations, where he serves as the Chief Guest. (ANI)
