Varanasi is gearing up for a grand Mahashivratri celebration, fueled by an increased influx of devotees from the Maha Kumbh. City officials confirmed on Tuesday that elaborate preparations are underway for the event.

Akharas, accompanied by numerous saints and Naga sadhus, are set to lead a grand procession, culminating in prayers at the sacred Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple on Wednesday. Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma stated that the district administration, in collaboration with temple managers, is working meticulously to ensure the celebration's success.

The procession will kick off from Hanuman Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat at 5:30 pm and proceed towards Godaulia, where participants will walk to the temple for darshan. With a special window for prayers set from 6 am to 9 am and an additional darshan scheduled for 2 pm, arrangements have been made to accommodate both devotees and Akhara members, with traditional ''Shiv Baraat'' promising to be a highlight on February 27.
