Tension mounted in Kankrola village, Gurugram, following the vandalism of a statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar in Ambedkar Colony, police reports indicated on Saturday.
After the villagers filed a complaint, authorities have registered an FIR citing the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Kherki Daula police station.
A municipal employee discovered the statue headless on Friday night and alerted the villagers, leading to a panchayat meeting and subsequent police notification. The SHO of Kherki Daula police station, Satyender Singh, stated efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators, warning that immediate protests could erupt if apprehensions aren't made soon.
