Temples across Hyderabad witnessed large gatherings on Wednesday as the city ushered in the new year with a spirit of hope. Devotees flocked to iconic sites such as the Birla Temple and Venkateswara temples, seeking well-being for 2025.

The spiritual fervor extended to the prominent Lord Ram temple in Bhadrachalam and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta, drawing worshippers in droves. State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy marked the occasion by engaging with undertrial prisoners and students at a state-run social welfare residential school.

Meanwhile, to mitigate risks during the celebrations, police conducted widespread drunk driving checks, resulting in 2,864 cases registered in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda jurisdictions. Due to these efforts, no major accidents were reported in Cyberabad, highlighting the successful enforcement strategy.
