In a recent announcement, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed that the BJP-led state government is prioritizing tribal welfare in its budget allocation. A significant portion of the budget, amounting to 39% or Rs 6,645 crore, is dedicated to the indigenous populace's development.
Discussing the fiscal plan further, Saha outlined that for the year 2025-26, the state plans to raise this allocation to Rs 7,149 crore, making up over 40% of the Rs 32,423 crore budget. This move forms part of a larger strategy that includes externally aided projects targeting tribal areas.
Highlighting economic accomplishments, Saha noted a substantial rise in Tripura's GST collection and per capita income, with the latter reaching Rs 1,77,723 in 2023-24. The 16th Finance Commission lauded the state's commendable fiscal management during its visit, which is seen as a significant endorsement of Tripura's financial strategies.
