Twelve individuals in Aizawl were detained for using firecrackers during New Year celebrations, defying a state-imposed ban aimed at reducing pollution, police reported Wednesday.
A total of thirteen cases were registered as residents violated the law despite multiple warnings from community leaders against using fireworks.
Officials noted that the level of firecracker usage was significantly lower than in previous years. Meanwhile, New Year festivities in Mizoram were marked by enthusiastic church services and planned community feasts.
