Thousands of tourists and local residents descended upon Goa's beaches to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. The festivities began on Tuesday evening and reached their peak at midnight as people enjoyed fireworks and musical events at beach shacks across the state.
Despite the heavy traffic on the roads leading to popular beaches, the state police controlled vehicular movement and maintained peace throughout the celebrations. Hotels reported full occupancy as Goa reaffirmed its status as a favorite destination for New Year festivities.
Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended their greetings, acknowledging the state's developments like the new Mopa airport. They encouraged the public to embrace the New Year with hope and unity as the government continues to work towards Goa's growth and welfare.
