The Bombay High Court has rejected a petition seeking to stop the release of the movie ‘Match Fixing - The Nation at Stake’. The film is based on the 2008 Malegaon blast and was challenged by Lt Col Prasad Purohit over concerns that it would influence his trial.

A division bench comprising Justices B P Colabawalla and Somasekhar Sunderesan ruled that the movie is a work of fiction and does not merit interference. Purohit's lawyer argued that the film portrays 'saffron terror' and could tarnish his client’s reputation, influencing the judicial process.

The movie's producers emphasized that it is based on an existing book and includes a disclaimer about its fictional nature. The court further questioned the relevance of the film hindering the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections or affecting judges' discretion.
