The Tourism Minister of Goa, Rohan Khaunte, declared a victory in dispelling social media myths surrounding the state's tourism industry. Speaking at Mantralaya in Porvorim, Khaunte affirmed their success in tarnishing false claims.
Previously, some media outlets had reported a decline in Goa's tourist numbers, but Khaunte countered these allegations with hard data presented in the assembly. The tourism department has also taken legal action against misleading accounts on social platforms, emphasizing the state's robust recovery post-pandemic.
Khaunte expressed dissatisfaction with local politicians, including MP Capt Viriato Fernandes, for irresponsible remarks, urging for maturity and unity in addressing tourism challenges. Despite the negativity, Goa reported over 8 million domestic tourists and significant growth in international arrivals, marking a significant recovery.
