Global Indian Community Gears Up for 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha

The 18th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is slated to take place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 8 to January 10 next year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this significant event, aimed at strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora worldwide, as informed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The official PBD Convention website was unveiled jointly by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also participated in the launch. The theme for the 2025 Convention is 'Diaspora's contribution to a Viksit Bharat', highlighting the vital role of Indians abroad in the nation's development.
President Droupadi Murmu is set to award the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards and lead the closing ceremonies. The launched website now allows online registrations and offers information on accommodation in Odisha, signaling the start of preparations for the convention. Jaishankar emphasized the Modi government's focus on the diaspora's welfare, while CM Majhi invited the global Indian community to explore Odisha's heritage.
