Echoes of Kalidas: Cultural Heritage Ties and Environmental Calls

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, speaking at the 66th All-India Kalidas Festival in Ujjain, drew attention to the pressing issue of climate change and looked to the ancient wisdom of legendary poet Kalidas. Dhankhar noted the environmental themes in Kalidas' works as a reminder to conserve our planet.
The Vice-President urged collective action from global stakeholders in addressing climate change, which continues to alter global temperatures and weather. He underscored the singularity of Earth as humanity's only home and highlighted India's rich cultural legacy as pivotal to understanding life's values and purpose.
The festival also celebrated distinguished artists with the National Kalidas Awards. Among the awardees were Uday Bhawalkar and Arvind Parikh for classical music, Dr. Sandhya Purecha and Guru Kalawati Devi for classical dance, PR Daroj and Raghupati Bhatt for Rupankar arts, and Bhanu Bharti and Rudraprasad Sengupta for theatre. The Bhoj Shrestha Kriti Award was presented to Acharya Balkrishna Sharma.
