An FIR has been registered against the production company responsible for a Kannada movie and two other entities amid allegations of illegal tree felling on forest land. The set was constructed in violation of environmental laws, according to officials who spoke on Tuesday.
The FIR was lodged following orders from the VIII Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The movie in question, titled 'Toxic', involves production by KVN Monster Mind Creations, with actor Yash featured in the lead role. The General Managers of Canara Bank and HMT Limited are also implicated, officials said.
Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. A chargesheet will follow after the inquiry, promising action against lawbreakers. The issue became evident on October 29 when Khandre inspected the site. Evidence supports the charge of tree felling, prompting potential disciplinary measures against those who sanctioned the land use.
