Delhi-based Assamese individuals, including students and academicians, gathered to celebrate the designation of Assamese as a classical language by India's government.

The event, organized at Assam Bhawan, marked the start of a week-long celebration, known as 'Bhaxa Gaurav Saptah', to honor Assamese's new status.

Participants commended this recognition, citing it as a pivotal moment for the language's growth and development, and proposed the creation of an Assamese library in the capital.
