Authorities in Uttar Pradesh are racing to complete preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 festival in Prayagraj by the new December 15 deadline, set after delays caused by extended rainfall. This colossal event, marked by the holy dip in the Ganga, will commence with the first shahi snan on January 14.
Officials report that over 500 infrastructure projects, including road widening and sanitation facilities, are at various stages of completion. Despite challenges, confidence remains high among project leaders, bolstered by increased collaboration with local technological institutes and enhanced oversight from government officials.
The event will cover an area of over 4,000 hectares and feature intensified security measures, transportation arrangements, and extensive public amenities. The state is gearing up to welcome millions of pilgrims with modern infrastructure and logistical support, all within a budget exceeding Rs 6,000 crore.
