A devastating fire accident at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple near Neeleswaram in Kasaragod district has prompted swift action from the Kerala government. The catastrophe, which occurred during a Theyyam performance, injured 154 people, with eight suffering serious injuries.
The incident was caused by the explosion of firecrackers improperly stored and used within the temple precincts, as stated by police officials. In response to the tragedy, the Kerala Cabinet resolved to cover the medical expenses of all those affected.
In addition, three individuals, including temple committee officials, have been arrested in relation to the explosion under the Explosive Substance Act. A Special Investigation Team has been assigned to investigate the incident thoroughly, with a parallel inquiry being conducted by the additional divisional magistrate.
