Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled plans for a 30-kilometre cruise route connecting Bilaspur to Shimla districts on Tuesday. The announcement was made during the launch of water sports activities at Gobind Sagar lake in Bilaspur's Mandi Bharari.
These water sports activities, including cruises, shikara rides, houseboats, and more, are expected to bolster the region's tourism potential and generate employment opportunities. Local businesses, especially those run by women and small entrepreneurs, stand to gain a new marketplace for their products, Sukhu stated.
The Bilaspur administration has been tasked with initiating the tender process for cruises in Kol Dam reservoir, marking further development in water tourism. The chief minister highlighted that such initiatives are part of a broader push to make Bilaspur a tourist hotspot, comparable to Kerala and Goa, as the state government prioritizes tourism and green industry investment.
