On Tuesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' event in Odisha, marking Sardar Vallabhai Patel's birth anniversary. This annual celebration, known as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas', honors Patel's role in the country's unity.
The marathon saw participation from various dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, and Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. Participants took an oath promoting national unity and ran from Kalinga Stadium to Raj Bhavan Square, reinforcing the sentiment of unity.
Interestingly, this year's celebration was held on Dhanteras due to the overlap with Diwali on October 31. The central government's decision to organize it on Dhanteras allowed the event to proceed without clashing with the festive observances.
