Controversy has arisen regarding ISKCON Houston's plan to hold a 'Snan Yatra' and 'Rath Yatra' in November, deviating from the traditional schedule observed at the Jagannath Temple in Puri. Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan addressed the concerns voiced by socio-cultural organizations.
Harichandan highlighted that many, including priests, believe global rituals should adhere to the practices at Puri. While the temple's administration plans discussions with ISKCON, Harichandan remains optimistic about reaching a positive outcome.
Traditionally, these festivals are timed according to the lunar calendar in Puri, with 'Snan Yatra' in June and 'Rath Yatra' in June or July. ISKCON Houston's November events have sparked disagreement, and the local Bhubaneswar ISKCON temple refrained from commenting.
