Himachal Pradesh Eyes Robust Tourism Boost with Central Support

Himachal Pradesh is poised for a tourism transformation as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu seeks central support. In a strategic meeting with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Sukhu outlined ambitious projects including a wellness centre in Kangra and an integrated tourism complex in Bilaspur. The emphasis is on sustainable development, with water sports and improved connectivity as key components.
Sukhu highlighted plans for heliports at district headquarters and the expansion of Kangra airport to attract high-end tourists. With the Pong dam as a designated tourist spot under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, he pressed for prompt fund release and updated project submissions for religious sites like the Chintpurni temple complex.
Following this, Sukhu met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, presenting a proposal for new road, bridge, and ropeway ventures. He advocated for National Highways Authority of India to consider tunneling options to cut costs, stressing the need to realign hazardous roads for safety improvements.
