In a controversial incident, a 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posting a provocative video during Karwa Chauth rituals featuring a poster of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati, as reported by the local police on Wednesday.
In the video, which gained widespread attention on social media, the man can be seen peering through a sieve at the former chief minister's poster, blowing a kiss, and offering it water—a parody of the traditional Hindu practice where women fast and seek the long lives of their husbands during Karwa Chauth.
Following complaints from outraged BSP supporters, authorities apprehended Lavesh Saini of Rampur Kalan on charges of forgery and public mischief under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations into the case continue, police confirmed.
