In a surprise announcement at the New York Comic Con, Michael Emerson, famed for his Emmy-winning performances in 'The Practice' and 'Lost', revealed that he is set to join the cast of CBS' 'Elsbeth' for its second season. The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

During the panel, attendees were given an exclusive preview of the upcoming Halloween episode, with discussions led by guest star Laura Benanti, alongside co-creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King, showrunner Jonathan Tolins, and prominent cast members Carrie Preston and Wendell Pierce.

Emerson is slated to portray Judge Milton Crawford, a reserved and intellectual man from a distinguished New England lineage. His character is designed as a counterpart to his wife, Elsbeth Tascioni, played by Carrie Preston. Tascioni is depicted as an astute yet unconventional lawyer working with the NYPD to tackle intricate cases. The forthcoming season will delve into new challenges as past episodes re-emerge to confront Elsbeth, her chief Captain Wagner, and trainee Officer Kaya Blanke. A derivative of 'The Good Wife' and 'The Good Fight', 'Elsbeth' has carved a niche with its sharp legal narratives and distinctive character portrayals.

Though the second season premiered on October 17, Emerson's debut as Judge Crawford will not air until December 12. Viewers can catch 'Elsbeth' on CBS or stream it via Paramount+, as fans anticipate the on-screen synergy between Emerson and Preston. (ANI)
