Serene Productions, helmed by CEO Adar Poonawalla, announced a significant investment on Monday, acquiring a 50% stake in Karan Johar's famed Dharma Productions for Rs 1,000 crore. The strategic move marks a new chapter in India's rapidly evolving entertainment sector.
Describing the venture as transformative, the company highlighted its potential to enhance the industry by marrying cutting-edge technology with Dharma's storytelling traditions. The union aims to revamp content creation, distribution, and audience interactions amid a digitally driven era.
Poonawalla expressed optimism about scaling Dharma's success, while Johar emphasized a blend of emotional narratives with forward-thinking business strategies. Johar will continue as Executive Chairman, overseeing the creative vision, while Apoorva Mehta will manage strategic direction as CEO.
