The transformation of the Patna Collectorate into a modern high-rise complex is nearing its final stages, with inauguration scheduled soon after Chhath Puja this November, officials confirmed.

Originally a cluster of heritage buildings from Dutch and British eras, the collectorate site underwent demolition in 2022 to make way for this redevelopment. Preserved elements, such as the Tuscan pillars, will feature in the new complex, a senior official explained.

The development faced backlash and legal challenges from heritage advocates, including appeals from international figures and organizations, but ultimately proceeded following a Supreme Court decision. The modern complex will comprise three high-rise buildings, equipped with contemporary facilities like basements for parking, while maintaining links to its historic past.
