Kashmir Marathon: A Scenic Run Towards Global Recognition
Sher Singh and Tamsi Singh triumphed in the inaugural Kashmir Marathon's full-marathon races. Around 2,000 athletes participated in the event aiming to promote Kashmir globally. The marathon, organized by the Department of Tourism, showcased the Valley's tranquility and tourism potential amid stunning landscapes.

Sher Singh and Tamsi Singh stole the spotlight on Sunday as they clinched victory in the men's and women's categories of the first Kashmir Marathon, held in the picturesque Valley. The event, drawing nearly 2,000 athletes, marks Kashmir's debut in international athletic events.
In the competitive 18-35 age group, Sher Singh finished first with a time of 2:23:22, outperforming second-place Mann Singh by just over a minute. Meanwhile, Tamsi Singh led the women's race, finishing in 3:03:25, narrowly ahead of Bhagirathi Bisht. Prizes were distributed by J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The marathon, spanning full (42 km) and half-marathon (21 km) categories, featured elite runners from India, Europe, and Africa. The event was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who, alongside actor Suniel Shetty, participated in the half-marathon, both emphasizing the marathon's potential tourism impact.
