Tourists visiting the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, renowned for its dense population of one-horned rhinos, are grappling with obstacles due to severely damaged roads from heavy rainfall last week. This weather has made it impossible for forest authorities to commence their popular jeep and elephant safari tours.
The sanctuary reopened on October 14, following an extended monsoon closure. However, entry was restricted as the authority couldn't initiate any safaris, a decision that affected many, including 21 foreign nationals, who had traveled to glimpse Pobitora's rich biodiversity.
Although repairs commenced swiftly after the rains ceased, tourist dissatisfaction has been palpable. Many urge improvements and timely information dissemination to avoid such inconveniences in the future. The park aims to resume full operations, including elephant safaris, by November 7.
