Authorities arrested a mentally unstable man for the alleged vandalism of a Goddess Durga idol situated at an exhibition ground. Officials confirmed the absence of any communal angle in the incident.

The suspect, identified as a vagabond, reportedly arrived at the location Thursday night during an ongoing 'Dandiya programme'. He remained at the site until about 3 AM Friday, initially seeking food, when he inadvertently caused partial damage to the idol.

A case has been lodged against the man for his actions and separately, against the event organizers for failing to have 24-hour volunteer security as mandated. The incident escalated further when BJP leader K Madhavi Latha paid a visit to the scene on Friday.
