Renowned Hollywood director Michael Bay is reportedly in negotiations to direct actor Will Smith in the upcoming action thriller 'Fast and Loose', as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The film's narrative centers on a crime boss who, after losing his memory in an assault, unravels a dual identity as a CIA operative. The screenplay has been penned by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson. Initially, the project was linked to director David Leitch, who departed to lead Universal's 'The Fall Guy'.

Produced by David Leitch, Kelly McCormick, and Will Smith for 87North, 'Fast and Loose' sees Robert Simonds and Noah Fogelson as executive producers for STXfilms. Production kicked off following Smith's notorious Oscars episode in 2022. This marks another collaboration between Bay and Smith, who previously teamed up for 'Bad Boys' in 1995 and its sequel in 2003.

Bay's illustrious directorial credits include 'The Rock' (1996), 'Armageddon' (1998), 'Pearl Harbor' (2001), '13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi' (2016), '6 Underground' (2019), and 'Ambulance' (2022).

Will Smith, celebrated for his accolades including an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, and Grammy Awards, rose to fame through action hits such as 'Bad Boys' and 'Men in Black'. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performances in 'Ali' (2001) and 'The Pursuit of Happyness' (2006), and starred in critically acclaimed films like 'I, Robot', 'Hitch', and 'I Am Legend'.
