Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday inaugurated an e-auction portal for the sale of gifts received by him and kept in the 'toshakhana' (government treasury).

According to an official release, individuals across the country can now purchase these 'toshakhana' gift articles through the online portal, https://cmgujmemento.gujarat.gov.in. Previously, these items were sold via public auctions held at state-level events and by district collectors in their respective areas.

The funds generated from these sales will be used by the government to support girl child education. This practice was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat CM. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has been enlisted to categorize and photograph the gifts, with detailed descriptions in English and Gujarati. Interested buyers must register on the portal and submit their bids. The highest bidder will pay digitally to the Girl Child Education Fund, after which the item will be mailed to them.
