Finalists for the 75th annual National Book Awards have been announced, showcasing a diverse range of voices and genres. Salman Rushdie's memoir 'Knife' and Percival Everett's historical novel 'James' lead the pack.

Other notable nominees include Miranda July for her novel 'All Fours' and celebrated poet Anne Carson for 'Wrong Norma.' The National Book Foundation revealed the finalists on Tuesday in categories spanning fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and young people's literature. The initial long lists, unveiled last month, were pared down to five selections in each category.
