In a recent hearing, the Delhi High Court questioned the resistance to installing Maharani Lakshmi Bai's statue at Shahi Idgah Park, pointing out that she is not a religious figure.

The court, led by Chief Justice Manmohan, was responding to an appeal from the Shahi Idgah Managing Committee against a single judge's decision to allow the statue's installation. The bench deferred the hearing till October 4, urging the appellants to reconsider their stance to avoid unnecessary conflict.

The court emphasized that Lakshmi Bai is a national hero and advised against dividing history along communal lines. The Shahi Idgah Managing Committee had previously petitioned against the statue's installation, citing the park's use for religious programs.
