Kaziranga National Park, famed for its one-horned rhino, has reopened for the 2024-25 tourist season. After a monsoon hiatus, the park was declared open by Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary during a function held in the western range, Bagori.
Patowary voiced confidence in drawing more tourists this year, surpassing the previous season's record of over 3.27 lakh visitors. He attributed this optimism to new infrastructure, including additional boat rides, and emphasized the crucial role of park officials, locals, and the media in enhancing the visitor experience.
The park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers jeep safaris, hiking, trekking, birding, and cycle trails. The presence of dignitaries, such as the President and Prime Minister, along with foreign leaders, has also contributed to its growing popularity. Elephant safaris are slated to commence later in the season.
