Pop sensation Ariana Grande has clapped back at critics targeting her 'Wicked' voice, according to Variety. The Grammy-winning artist, who plays Glinda in the film, has dedicated nearly two years to the project.
'There is a part of the world that isn't familiar with what it takes to transform your voice,' Grande stated, addressing internet trolls who mock her lighter Glinda voice. 'When it's a male actor that does it, it's acclaimed,' she added, highlighting the different standards faced by women in the industry.
Grande previously responded on TikTok, clarifying her intentional vocal changes based on the amount of singing involved. 'I'm really proud of my hard work,' she said, explaining her decision to engage with critics online.
In other news, Universal Pictures has announced a new release date for 'Wicked: Part Two,' the much-awaited musical fantasy film directed by Jon M. Chu. Originally slated for November 26, 2025, the movie will now hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
The sequel, part of a two-part adaptation of the renowned stage musical, features an ensemble cast including Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Jonathan Bailey, among others.
