Historic Triumph: Indian Chess Teams Secure Double Gold at 45th Olympiad

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) has unveiled an impressive Rs 3.2 crore in rewards for the Indian teams after their groundbreaking victories at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest. This announcement was made during a celebratory ceremony on Wednesday by AICF president Nitin Narang.

Each member of the triumphant teams is set to receive Rs 25 lakh, while the captains of the men's and women's teams, Abhijeet Kunte and Srinath Narayanan, will be awarded Rs 15 lakh each. Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, head of the Indian delegation, will be rewarded with Rs 10 lakh, and assistant coaches will receive Rs 7.5 lakh each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his congratulations to the teams, highlighting their dedication and the significant impact of their achievements on Indian sports. The victory in Budapest, prominently featuring players like D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanandhaa, underlines a monumental milestone in Indian chess, promising a bright future for the sport in the country.
