Senior CPI(M) leader and Kerala Industries Minister, P Rajeeve, on Sunday congratulated Anura Kumara Dissanayake for winning the Sri Lankan Presidential election. Rajeeve shared a photograph with the newly elected President on his Facebook page, noting that Dissanayake had visited his office in Kerala back in February.

During that visit, discussions revolved around the potential for industrial collaboration between Kerala and Sri Lanka. Dissanayake had also toured Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and expressed interest in Kerala's Ayurvedic practices, acknowledging their potential benefits for Sri Lanka.

In the recent elections, 56-year-old Dissanayake, leader of the Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna party's broader front, National People's Power (NPP), triumphed over Sajith Premadasa of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). Incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe was eliminated in the first round. The NPP has announced that Dissanayake will be sworn in as the 9th President on Monday.
