Mild tension erupted at the residence of YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy in Tadepalli on September 22, as BJYM workers staged a protest. The protest stemmed from allegations that adulterated ghee was used in making Tirupati laddus by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) during the previous regime.

The workers squatted in front of Reddy's residence, raising slogans and sprinkling saffron color on the walls, as captured by TV visuals. Guntur Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar confirmed that some BJYM activists were taken into preventive custody related to the incident.

The temple body managing the Sri Venkateswara Swamy shrine in Tirumala revealed on September 20 that their tests found sub-standard ghee and lard in samples, echoing claims made by Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Meanwhile, TTD's Executive Officer Shyamala Rao met with Chandrababu Naidu and submitted a preliminary report on the adulteration issue, which YSR Congress vehemently denies.
