Singer-songwriter and actor Andra Day, renowned for her recent role in 'The Deliverance,' will soon be seen portraying a protective mother in 'Exhibiting Forgiveness.' The independent drama, written and directed by Titus Kaphar, is inspired by Kaphar's own life experiences and will hit theaters on October 18.

In 'Exhibiting Forgiveness,' Day plays Aisha, a singer-songwriter married to painter Tarrell Rodin, portrayed by Andre Holland. The plot thickens when Rodin's estranged father, La'Ron, a recovering addict, reappears in their lives, encouraged by Rodin's mother, Joyce. During the film's Los Angeles premiere, Day opened up about her working experience with co-star Holland, whom she referred to as her 'best friend' and 'bestie.'

Holland immersed himself in his role by spending three months in Kaphar's Connecticut studio, learning to paint to better portray his character. Similarly, Day dedicated six days post-shoot to work with composer Jherek Bischoff on the song 'Bricks' for the film. According to Day, the song captures the essence of forgiveness as a challenging but necessary journey. Kaphar also shared his emotional connection to the film, revealing that watching Holland reenact his past was a healing experience for him.
