Renowned Rajasthani folk singer Mangey Khan, the lead vocalist of Barmer Boys under Amarrass Records, passed away Wednesday at the age of 49. He had been battling a heart condition and underwent recent bypass surgery. Khan is survived by his wife and three children.

Celebrated for his soulful voice, Khan's popular songs include 'Bole To Mitho Lage', 'Amrano', 'Ranaji', and 'Pir Jalani'. Along with fellow band members Sawai Khan and Magada Khan, he performed not only across India but also globally, in countries like Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.

Ashutosh Sharma, founder of Amarrass Records, expressed deep sorrow, stating, 'Mangey's passing leaves a void that can't be filled. His tragic death is a huge loss for the music world. A voice that can never be replaced.'

Sharma recalled meeting Khan in 2010 when he visited Ramsar village in Barmer, Rajasthan, to record the first female Manganiyar singer, Rukma Bai. Impressed by Khan's harmonium performance and vocal style, they recorded songs that evening, which led to the formation of Barmer Boys in 2011. The band became global ambassadors of Manganiyar music, interweaving elements of Sufism with Rajasthani folk and classical music traditions.
