Retrofitting IGM Hospital: Preserving Tripura's Heritage

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced the retrofitting of the historic Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Agartala for its preservation. Originally established as Victoria Memorial Hospital in 1873, the building, significant to the Manikya dynasty, houses Tripura Government Dental College and other services.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that retrofitting efforts will be undertaken at the historic Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Agartala to ensure its preservation.

Originally known as the Victoria Memorial Hospital, the structure was established by Maharaja Bir Chandra Manikya Bahadur in 1873 and later upgraded by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

The health department will carry out the retrofitting work, aiming to protect this heritage site which currently houses the Tripura Government Dental College, a nursing college, and a referral hospital.
