Eminem is slated to kick off the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards with a much-anticipated performance of tracks from his new album, 'The Death of Slim Shady'. This will be the rapper's first TV performance featuring his new material and is expected to be a highlight of the evening.

This year, Eminem stands out with eight nominations, including categories such as Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Song of the Summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He is also remembered for his 2000 medley performance of 'Real Slim Shady' and 'The Way I Am,' which featured over 100 look-alikes.

The rapper is on the verge of making history, The Hollywood Reporter notes. Currently tied with Peter Gabriel for the most VMA wins by a solo male artist, Eminem could set a new record with just one more win this year.

Eminem, who already holds the title for most wins by a rap artist with 13 VMAs, is the second most-nominated artist in the awards' history, trailing only Madonna. The event will be broadcast live from Long Island's UBS Arena on September 11 at 8 p.m. ET, after being rescheduled due to the ABC presidential debate.

The VMAs will feature performances by other major stars including Anitta, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Tiago PZK, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Karol G, Lenny Kravitz, Lisa from Blackpink, LL Cool J, Rauw Alejandro, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and Katy Perry, who will receive the Video Vanguard Award. Megan Thee Stallion will host the event.

Presenters for the awards show include a diverse mix of celebrities such as Addison Rae, Alessandra Ambrosio, Big Sean, Busta Rhymes, Cyndi Lauper, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Flavor Flav, French Montana, Halle Bailey, Lil Nas X, Miranda Lambert, Naomi Scott, Paris Hilton, Suki Waterhouse, Thalia, and Tinashe.

Taylor Swift leads this year's nominations with 12 nods, followed closely by Post Malone with 11. Eminem holds eight nominations, while other top contenders include Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, and Sabrina Carpenter, each securing seven nominations.
