Jammu and Kashmir Launches Green Election Initiative with Massive Plantation Drive

Monday marked the commencement of a special drive to plant one lakh saplings under the 'green election initiative' in Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Electoral Officer Pandurang K Pole instructed officers to plant over 100 trees at each polling station to promote environmental stewardship.
Pole initiated the drive from Model Higher Secondary School, Domana, highlighting efforts to blend the plantation drive with assembly elections to encourage environmental responsibility. The assembly polls are scheduled for September 18, 25, and October 1, with results on October 8.
The plantation initiatives, in collaboration with the J-K forest department, aim to achieve the target of one lakh saplings by September 15. The initiative aims to offset environmental impacts from election-related waste and foster a green mandate among voters.
